DESCRIPTION:15-21 Nisan\; 15-22 Nisan in the Diaspora\n\nThe seven- or ei
ght-day Jewish festival commemorating the Exodus\, the liberation of the
Israelites from slavery in Egypt\, as recounted in the Book of Exodus.
Its name recalls how the angel of death passed over the marked homes of
the Israelites in the final plague. It begins on the fifteenth of the He
brew month of Nisan\, in spring\, and opens with the Seder\, a ritual me
al at which the story is retold through symbolic foods\, four cups of wi
ne\, and the Haggadah. Throughout the festival no leavened bread is eate
n\, only matzah\, recalling the hurried flight from Egypt. Passover cele
